What is going to happen to social media in Illinois?

If you haven’t noticed, the State of Illinois enacted a law that requires students to turn over their usernames and passwords to the school. Evidently, this is to prevent or control cyber bullying.

I am not sure what to think about this because I am one of those people who threaten to delete my Facebook on a regular basis. So I asked an expert on the subject—my middle school daughter.

Father to daughter: What would you do if you had to give your passwords for social media over to the school?

Daughter: Wait. What?

Father: What would you do if you had to give your passwords for social media over to the school?

Daughter: Wait. What? Am I in trouble?

Father: No. Just theoretically, what would happen? Would you still use Instagram if the teachers had your passwords?

Daughter: What?

Father: OK. Illinois just passed a law that could require students to give up there passwords.

Daughter: (Blank stare. Horrified look.)

My conclusion: There must be an app for that! If not, let’s get started!
